Alright fellas, this one is for you. When was the last time you went to the store and bought a moisturizer for your skin? An anti aging cream? Probably never, right? You’d rather be caught wearing pink boxers than buying a skin care product.

Well, the verdict is in: Although men have some natural advantages over women when it comes to skin, skin care is equally important for both sexes. Sorry guys.

Skin care isn’t for wussies or the weak. It’s for everyone who wants to look his best regardless of his age. If you look thirty years young at age fifty, you’ll have the last laugh and the ladies will love you for it!

Hear me out for just a moment. You can wear the best suit, have an 8 pack for a stomach and even drive a Bentley; but if you don’t have a skin care regimen, you’re at a disadvantage because you won’t look your best.

Skin care for men is on the rise. Dermatologists have stated that there has been a large increase in the number of men seeking skin care treatment in the last two decades.

It’s time to take action and leave behind those old stereotypes about skin care for men. It’s time to take a look at the naked truths about skin care for men that we’ve been ignoring because society dictates skin care to be a “woman only” thing. I’m here to tell you that’s no longer the case!

Some good news for us guys

Men genetically have more natural collagen and elastin fibers than women. This is one of those “natural advantages” I mentioned earlier. Having more collagen and elastin makes it harder for us to look our age because our skin is thicker, and thicker skin is very effective at resisting wrinkle formation.

Our skin also contains more oil than a woman’s. Oil is known to trap moisture and provide a plumper more natural appearance. This can be a GREAT thing for those of us who are not acne prone.

Another thing we may not be aware of is our daily shaving routine. A good, close shave is a fantastic exfoliant. The process not only leaves us smelling clean and looking smooth, but it removes massive amounts of dead skin and grime from our faces.

Don’t get too comfortable

Although we’re genetically gifted in the skin department, there is still research out there that indicates skin care for men is essential. The American Cancer Society states that men are twice as likely as women to develop skin cancer. Why is this true if we’re as genetically gifted as I claimed earlier?

Skin care isn’t second nature to us guys; sports and television are. So on those hot days at the park watching the kids play league sports, or on those longs days at the beach with friends and family, the thought of taking care of our skin with sunscreen is probably not a top priority on our list of to-do’s. Why? It’s simply because we’re not used to paying attention to our skin the same way women are. It’s a behavior we learned from a very early age that we have to unlearn as we get older!

Psychology aside, men are still able to get wrinkles. Sure, we have more resistance to them, but they can still happen. So how do we handle it? The trick is to pick a proven, all natural day cream and a rich moisturizer that contain ingredients like vitamin E, avocado oil, grapeseed oil, Cynergy TK, wakame and CoQ10. These ingredients are the perfect complement to your daily routine and you’ll reap decades of rewards for giving your face a few minutes of TLC before work in the morning.

So gentlemen, skin care for men is no joke. Stop neglecting your skin because you think skin care is a “women only” gig. The cancer statistics prove that this kind of thinking can be harmful in many ways. So suck it up, grab your moisturizer, grab your day cream and start fighting off the effects of aging one morning at a time. You’ll be glad you did!

The manufacturers of beauty care products have blatantly ignored men while persistently pursuing women. Decade ago beauty regime, cosmetics, etc were considered a female’s prerogative. So what’s new? There is a clear blurring of gender lines in today’s world. Eyebrow plucking, facials, massages, manicures, pedicures, hair removal and hair colours, which were regaled to women only, now find a mention in men’s list for beauty.

Men have shown interest in taking better care of their skin. Simple daily ritual of cleansing and moisturizing is the key to healthy beautiful skin. Men’s skin care products include moisturizing creams, cleansers, face and body wash, scrubs, exfoliant and night renewal cream with a variety of natural ingredients for example sea salt, coconut, Aloe Vera and even beer.

Men’s skin is 20% thicker than woman’s skin because it’s richer in collagen and elastin. The active sebaceous glands make the skin much oilier. No matter what is your skin type, you have to clean your face daily. Deep cleansing keeps the pores clear, skin healthy and good looking. Just like women’s skin, men’s skin is also prone to dehydration, sun damage, changes in the environment like air pollution, climate etc. Basic cleansing, protection and moisturizing after shaving is an effective skin care routine.

- Daily face washing will unclog the pores and help in prevention of variety of skin conditions such pimples, acne, ingrown hair, etc.

- Daily shaving of their face makes the skin prone to dehydration. Use shaving creams or foams designed for specific skin type.

- If your skin is prone to imperfections such nicks, pimples, etc after shaving; soothe the skin with moisturizer or after-shave lotion.

- Sunscreens are not only for women. Men’s skin should also be protected against the sun. Buy sunscreen or moisturizers with SPF of 15 or above.

- Steam your face before shaving. It opens up hair follicles. Splash cold water on your face after shaving to close the pores on the skin. Aloe Vera is a wonderful post shave moisturizer.

- The use of the correct oils for oily and acne prone skins can be very helpful. Essential oils like lavender, sage, mint and tea tree are naturally antiseptic, active and help heal the skin.

- Eat a balanced diet and stay active. Up your intake of fruits and vegetables and avoid greasy fried foods. Exercising clears your pores and increases your metabolism and sweating cleanses your inner body.

- Drink plenty of water daily to keep your skin hydrated. If consume liqueur, beverages or soft drinks, increase your water intake to keep your self from being dehydrated.

Skin care for men is akin to women’s skin care regime. Clean your skin every day and moisturize your skin for healthy beautiful looking skin.
