You can get massage and spa services from professional massage therapists and facial therapists. These services can be availed of even by residents of Oldsmar, Safety Harbor and Trinity, FL.The Fall 2008 online issue of Massage Envy Magazine states that stress-relieving massage also benefits the skin. It quotes dermatologist Valori Treloar, M.D. saying, “Stress worsens many skin conditions, so the anti-stress benefits are not surprising.”The online magazine adds that massage removes toxins and improves circulation, resulting in healthier skin. Increased blood flow corresponds to better delivery of nutrients and more efficient flushing away of waste products, giving a rosy warm glow to the skin. Dermatologist Amy Newburger, M.D. says, “Massage promotes the health of the skin by getting more blood circulation into areas of the skin where they might not be getting the appropriate amount of blood circulation.” Massage works well with the right skin care regimen. Murad Inc. has been a leader in the skin care industry for the last twenty years and founder Howard Murad, M.D. is an associate clinical professor of medicine at UCLA. Murad Inc. has partnered with the Massage Envy chain of massage clinics to deliver facial treatments in some of its locations. This was announced in the Fall 2009 issue of Massage Envy Magazine online.According to Dr. Murad, there are four steps to healthy skin. These are first, to cleanse and tone; second, to treat and repair; third, to moisturize and protect; and fourth, to treat the entire body.”Focus on cleaning skin in the evening to remove dirt that has accumulated throughout the day,” Dr. Murad advises. He recommends using a toner to finish the cleansing routine and get the skin ready for a moisturizer.Author Stephanie Thurrott writes in the Fall 2008 online issue of Massage Envy Magazine that skin cleansing needs change according to the weather. In winter, the skin becomes dry and flaky while in summer, sweat proteins may clog pores if not properly washed off. After cleansing and toning, Dr. Murad recommends treatment and repair according to the condition of the skin. He urges those with acne problems to try products with retinol, and those with wrinkle problems to try anti-aging products. Thurrott says creams and lotions with alpha hydroxyl acids are also effective exfoliants that can clear pores. They make the skin more sensitive to the sun, though. Moisturizing and protection comprise the third step of Dr. Murad’s regimen. He suggests a sunscreen with a minimum of SPF 15. In Thurrott’s article dermatologist D’Anne Kleinsmith, M.D. of Bloomfield Dermatology Associates says, “I prefer that women use a moisturizer with a sunscreen rather than relying on their makeup to contain a sunscreen. When you apply makeup, you’re not going to apply a very heavy layer of the product, so the sunscreen coverage will not be adequate.”The fourth step of Dr. Murad’s skin care regimen involves taking care of the entire body system through a healthy diet and lifestyle. He says, “Take an inclusive approach to health that addresses your needs topically through skin care, internally through diet and supplements, and emotionally through self-care in the form of massage, facials, meditation and interpersonal connection.”So enjoy the benefits of Swedish massage therapy, deep tissue massage therapy and sports massage therapy from professional massage therapists for your body and your skin. Accompany your body massage therapy with a facial from the same massage clinic and spa in Clearwater, FL to round off your health and beauty routine. If you’re lucky, it will be the massage clinic that offers Murad spa facials.

Ultimate Guide to Acne and Skin Care Alternative Medicine In alternative medicine acne is not necessarily seen as a disease of the skin. In this world of holistic approaches are the ways to go. By this theory acne is more related to an efficient digestive system does more than just skin. This basic principle means that the skin is seen as a part of the mechanism that helps get rid of harmful toxins from the body. The focus, therefore, changes on the creation of a viable digestive system that will eliminate toxins through the kidneys and liver. Obviously the most important factor here is diet. There are many voices out there who say that acne is not anything that the body’s reaction to an overdose of carbohydrates and sugar. The basis for this claim lies in the fact that acne is a disease found mainly in the western world. It is clear that the reasons for the sudden outbreak of acne should fit into the lifestyle. Among the culprits diet and sedentary habits are mostly to blame. In alternative medicine acne treatments are called differently. There is much literature in this area, but most of them depend on the creation of a balanced, low in calories, usually kind of vegetarian diet. It is a custom enough to create a holistic approach that includes some type of psychological treatment or some type of motivational techniques. To return to alternative medicine diet advice would be a gross understatement though. There are also options that are very similar to those offered by traditional medicine and even some treatments offered by alternative medicine has crossed borders and are now recognized as a viable treatment methods. Now let’s take a closer look at what exactly the alternative medicine has to offer. It is clear that the priorities are invoked first to create a balance between self organizations. This is achieved by setting the right conditions for the body to heal from the inside out. Carefully designed vitamin increases, the elimination of the slow digestion of food, the definition of an appropriate schedule for meals. All these are part of the treatment. Of course, in addition to diet, there are herbal remedies. The type of activism and aura surrounding alternative medicine also has another dimension. The politician to be exact, currently a worrying trend can be easily observed. There is a new “management” approach to medicine and patients are now seen as customers. This makes doctors in nothing more than sellers. The truth hits if you look at the problem this way is the fact that pharmaceutical companies have absolutely no reason to study diets as there is an end product sales. Basically drug companies would be bankrupt if everyone were healthy, so the approach is now to eliminate the effects of a disease rather than curing it. A chronic patient is a loyal customer. I’m not the first to make this chain of deduction. This is perhaps the reason why I recommend alternative medicine. They want you healthy, because you see the agenda behind this type of activism is radically different from the pharmaceutical companies. What you’re being sold is not a mere drug, but a lifestyle, a healthy one to be precise. The activism displayed above is just one wing in the largest vegetarian movement, but there are some other areas, with a little more humble agenda. Herbal medicines are 100% safe and it has absolutely no side effects.

The manufacturers of beauty care products have blatantly ignored men while persistently pursuing women. Decade ago beauty regime, cosmetics, etc were considered a female’s prerogative. So what’s new? There is a clear blurring of gender lines in today’s world. Eyebrow plucking, facials, massages, manicures, pedicures, hair removal and hair colours, which were regaled to women only, now find a mention in men’s list for beauty.

Men have shown interest in taking better care of their skin. Simple daily ritual of cleansing and moisturizing is the key to healthy beautiful skin. Men’s skin care products include moisturizing creams, cleansers, face and body wash, scrubs, exfoliant and night renewal cream with a variety of natural ingredients for example sea salt, coconut, Aloe Vera and even beer.

Men’s skin is 20% thicker than woman’s skin because it’s richer in collagen and elastin. The active sebaceous glands make the skin much oilier. No matter what is your skin type, you have to clean your face daily. Deep cleansing keeps the pores clear, skin healthy and good looking. Just like women’s skin, men’s skin is also prone to dehydration, sun damage, changes in the environment like air pollution, climate etc. Basic cleansing, protection and moisturizing after shaving is an effective skin care routine.

- Daily face washing will unclog the pores and help in prevention of variety of skin conditions such pimples, acne, ingrown hair, etc.

- Daily shaving of their face makes the skin prone to dehydration. Use shaving creams or foams designed for specific skin type.

- If your skin is prone to imperfections such nicks, pimples, etc after shaving; soothe the skin with moisturizer or after-shave lotion.

- Sunscreens are not only for women. Men’s skin should also be protected against the sun. Buy sunscreen or moisturizers with SPF of 15 or above.

- Steam your face before shaving. It opens up hair follicles. Splash cold water on your face after shaving to close the pores on the skin. Aloe Vera is a wonderful post shave moisturizer.

- The use of the correct oils for oily and acne prone skins can be very helpful. Essential oils like lavender, sage, mint and tea tree are naturally antiseptic, active and help heal the skin.

- Eat a balanced diet and stay active. Up your intake of fruits and vegetables and avoid greasy fried foods. Exercising clears your pores and increases your metabolism and sweating cleanses your inner body.

- Drink plenty of water daily to keep your skin hydrated. If consume liqueur, beverages or soft drinks, increase your water intake to keep your self from being dehydrated.

Skin care for men is akin to women’s skin care regime. Clean your skin every day and moisturize your skin for healthy beautiful looking skin.

There are many people looking for anti ageing products and most people realise that when skin is stripped of its natural oils it becomes dry and looks dull. Some skin care products could actually be stripping oils instead of replacing them so what you should be looking for are products containing natural skin care oils.

Many natural skin care oils contain essential fatty acids like those contained in human sebum and some of those most similar on a molecular level are grapeseed oil, avocado oil, shea butter and babassu palm oil.

Grapeseed oil -is rich in vitamin E and other antioxidants and is particularly beneficial for healing the delicate skin area beneath the eyes.
Avocado oil – contains lots of nutrients including vitamin A and E, which are known to be beneficial to the skin’s health. It has also been shown in clinical trials to increase the amount of collagen in the skin’s layers.
Shea butter – beneficial for acne, eczema and psoriasis and has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects.
Babassu palm oil – helps to balance the sebum production in the skin which control the oiliness or dryness of the skin.

These are the natural skin care oils that are important and they should be ingredients in any natural face creams that you choose to use. They can be used by anyone with any complexion type because they are so close to our naturally occurring oils they do not cause dryness nor do they cause excessive oil to build up.

Many natural skin care oils have antioxidant activity and this quality is important when you are looking for an anti aging product or even to reverse the signs of aging. The free radicals that cause cells damage and deterioration are eliminated by antioxidants and some even restore cells to their former glory.

The best skin care products are the ones that work wonderfully on your skin and make the skin look healthy and radiant. To have positive effects on the skin, you should take care that the products you use do not contain any harsh chemicals that would harm the skin and cause problems. It is widely debated if natural skin care products are better for the skin than those containing chemical ingredients and vice versa. While there are certain chemicals that can damage the skin and cause harm to its texture, there are still others that can actually be beneficial for the skin if used properly. Here are some ingredients that help you achieve healthy skin that glows with radiance. The next time you buy your skin care products, you will know what ingredients to look for. Vitamin E and B5 Also called D-Panthenol, Vitamin B5 is a superb moisturizer that repairs skin tissues and heals damaged skin. Even Vitamin E which is often referred to as Alpha-Tocopherol is a great antioxidant that prevents premature aging and controls the aging process by protecting the skin against environmental pollution, sun damage due to UVA/ UVB rays and poor nutrition. With regular use, it helps diminish the appearance of age spots, wrinkles, fine lines and stretch marks. Alpha Hydroxy Acids They are very useful in healing aging skin. They reduce the appearance of various aging signs such as wrinkles, fine lines and age spots. One of the most important properties of alpha hydroxy acids is that they minimize the size of skin pores thus improving the firmness of the skin making it appear younger and more vibrant. Certain skin care products that contain AHAs tend to cause mild irritation and increased sun sensitivity. Therefore, you should always use small concentrations of the products and use on alternate days. As your skin gets used to it, you can increase the concentration and start applying the product more frequently. Salicylic Acid It is a form of beta-hydroxy acid that is comparatively less irritating than the alpha hydroxy acids. One of the core benefits of salicylic acid is that it helps eliminate acne. It gently exfoliates the skin and penetrates deep inside to eliminate acne causing bacteria. On the whole, it improves the skin texture and makes it more radiant. iS Clinical Active Serum

Almost any woman’s reaction to the signs of her first wrinkle would be horror. Why not? It’s the first real step towards aging, which is really a selective term. Teenagers don’t age – women in their mid-30′s do. And that first indication that your skin is no longer as supple as it used to be is terrifying.

The quest to find the elixir for youth and beauty started with the oldest civilizations and continues to this day. You can see it everywhere: spas, cosmetics, and the most drastic of all, surgery. Thousands of products related to wrinkle cure and antiaging skin care are launched every year that it now borders on the ridiculous. But perhaps the latest skin care fad to start creeping its way in has a chance at keeping those wrinkles at bay, at least throughout middle-age.

Though a fact most often overlooked (or buried under the beauty products and face lifts that we aspire to have), it’s no secret that whatever we eat would eventually take its effect on our bodies. If you eat healthy, your skin also will be healthy. In this light, this up-and-coming wrinkle cure and antiaging skin care agent is… wild salmon. Wild salmon has been found to be rich in antioxidants and omega-3 essential fatty acids. Considering the amount of toxins we take in on a daily basis from the air, water, and our food, the free radicals formed from oxidation attack our bodies’ cells. When our cells get damaged, the effects can be evident on our skin and can cause advanced wrinkling. Antioxidants reverse the impact of oxidants.

Wild salmon and other cold water fish such as sardines and trout are also great sources of protein. Protein works to maintain and repair the cells of your body, including those of the skin. People who lack protein in their diet show this deficiency even at a young age. With a diet rich in protein, it’s enough to be a wrinkle cure and antiaging skin care regimen. From just eating salmon, tuna, or even canned sardines, you’ll be ingesting less fat and usually calories! Surely what those steaks and french fries only do is give you some extra pounds (and admittedly, a healthy amount of joy while eating). Another benefit of this kind of diet is skin hydration, which results in a healthy glow. There’s also a dramatic decrease in acne and other blemishes that come from ingesting too many fried foods.

The beauty of opting for wild salmon as your wrinkle cure and antiaging skin care solution is that not only does your skin reap its advantages, so does the rest of your body. You’ll find that your blood sugar levels are stabilized, your immune system is boosted, your insulin levels are lowered, and more. Not only will you look more youthful, you’ll feel more energetic. The sebaceous glands in your skin form an oil called sebum, which lubricates and protects the surface of your skin. When the glands are overproductive and form too much sebum, your skin can appear greasy, shiny and course, with large pores and more frequent breakouts. This condition is known as oily skin.

Oily skin can be caused by a wide variety of factors, including genetics, fluctuating hormone levels, dietary choices, certain cosmetics and hot, humid weather. Although oily skin is prevalent in teenagers because skin becomes dryer with age, it can occur at any age. When your skin is oily only in certain areas, this is known as combination skin. The one advantage of having oily skin is that it tends to age at a slower rate than any other type of skin.

For oily skin care treatment, it is imperative to cleanse oily skin two to three times per day. Gentle cleansers with lukewarm water work best to remove oils without stripping the surface of the skin. A gentle astringent or toner should be used after cleansing. Finally, a light moisturizer that is not oil-based can be used in areas prone to dryness, such as around the eyes and mouth. Since oily skin tends to be scaly, the use of a mask twice a week can be very helpful in deep cleansing the pores and removing dead skin cells on the surface of the skin. Another great technique for cleansing the pores is to steam your face over hot water for several minutes twice a week. This loosens the sebum in clogged pores and makes your skin look cleaner and more vital.

Healthy living habits can also improve the appearance and condition of oily skin. Drinking six to eight glasses of water per day, regular exercise and sleep and avoiding cigarettes are good ways to have beautiful skin. Supplementing your diet with vitamins A, B, C, E and zinc also promote healthy skin. With a little extra attention, you can dramatically improve the condition and appearance of your oily skin. If these ideas do not help and your skin remains prone to constant breakouts, you may have a skin condition known as acne, which requires additional care and treatment.
